Dear colleagues,

It is with enormous sadness that we have learned the passing of Dr. Dan Leksell.

Dan Leksell is a pioneer of radiosurgery in all its aspects and created the Elekta company with his Father and Brother. He also founded and was the chairman for 30 years, until his retirement in 2019, of the Leksell Gamma Knife Society. His contribution from all points of view to our world has been essential. He has supported multiple initiatives and we have met at the most diverse meetings. Thanks to his support we demonstrated the effectiveness of many treatments and his help when we began to develop psychiatric indications was decisive.

He has been a mentor to our group, and I remember with deep feeling the words he addressed to us at our last meeting in Marseille in September of last year.

We lose a great person and an excellent friend.
