In memoriam

Dear Colleagues,  dear friends,

It is with profound sadness that I announce to you the sudden passing of Dr. Fery Stoica due to a massive myocardial infarction.

An outstanding neurosurgeon, Fery made a significant contribution to the development and expansion of Gamma Knife radiosurgery in his native Romania. His dedication, expertise, and passion earned him the respect and affection of colleagues throughout the European radiosurgical community.

We had the honour of knowing him and working alongside him to organise the 2024 European Leksell Gamma Knife Society (ELGKS) Congress in Bucharest. During that time, we came to appreciate both his professional excellence and his remarkable personal qualities. Always approachable, generous with his time, courteous, and enthusiastic, Fery brought warmth and a spirit of collaboration to everything we shared.

He will be deeply missed by the entire European Gamma Knife family. We will remember him with gratitude and affection, both for his contributions to our field and for the privilege of his friendship.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Antonio Nicolato

President ELGKS
